Assistant Professor of Arabic Studies to begin August 2018. Teaching responsibilities include three courses per semester, typically the elementary and intermediate Arabic language and culture courses, introductory and intermediate courses in Middle Eastern Civilizations, and courses in the candidate’s area of specialization that will contribute to the Arabic Studies major and/or the interdisciplinary Middle Eastern and South Asian Studies (MESAS) major.

QUALIFICATIONS

A PhD in hand by August 2018 in Arabic Studies or related field; native or near native proficiency in Modern Standard Arabic as well as fluency in one or more dialects; documented excellence in teaching Arabic language, literature, and culture at the undergraduate level; a strong commitment to teaching excellence; the ability to develop and maintain a dynamic Arabic Studies program; and an active research agenda (areas of sub-specialization within Arabic Studies and Middle Eastern Studies are open).

The Arabic Studies program at Williams College seeks to appoint a tenure-track Assistant Professor, beginning July 2018. Specialization open, PhD in hand by September 2018 expected. Excellent training and experience in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers are essential, as is a rigorous scholarly agenda. The teaching load is 2-2 plus a January course every other year. Lecturer in Arabic (3 years renewable contract)

We are seeking an experienced lecturer capable of teaching introductory to advanced Arabic to tertiary students. Knowledge in current trends in second/foreign language teaching methodologies is preferred. Candidates should have proven track-record in teaching, curriculum design, multimedia course materials development and knowledge of new technologies in language instruction. The position is offered on a three-year renewable contract basis.

Selection Criteria:

• Postgraduate qualification in one or more of: Second Language Acquisition, Arabic Linguistics, Teaching Arabic as a Second Language
• Native proficiency in written and spoken Arabic

• Experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching Arabic preferably at tertiary level
• Experience in developing Arabic language materials, including e-learning materials
• Experience with multimedia and computer-based instructional technologies
• Ability to coordinate large courses
• Good command of English

Arabic Instructor (Iraqi Dialect) - Germany
