University of Chicago - Lecturer in Arabic

The Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at the University of Chicago announces a position for a full-time Lecturer in Arabic, for a one-year appointment, with the possibility of renewal. Lecturers teach two classes of various levels of Arabic in each of three quarters (Autumn, Winter, Spring) to both undergraduate and graduate students and are expected to contribute to the planning of the curriculum. Applicants must have native or near-native proficiency in Arabic and experience at the college level teaching Arabic as a foreign language. Preference will be given to candidates proficient in an Arabic dialect. A Ph.D. is desirable but not required.
