Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor in Arabic

Department of Comparative Literature

The Department of Comparative Literature at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a two-year, full-time lectureship position (non-tenure-track) in Arabic, to begin in August 2018 with excellent possibility of renewal. Responsibilities include teaching introductory, intermediate, and advanced undergraduate courses in Arabic (three courses per semester) along with supporting duties on behalf of the Arabic program, which includes an undergraduate minor.  Penn State offers a dynamic environment for language learning, including a Summer Intensive Language Institute, Title VI centers, and extensive other resources. Requirements include native or near-native fluency in English and Arabic, a master’s degree or equivalent in a related field, and relevant teaching experience.  Preferred qualifications include ABD status or a Ph.D., experience with communicative and standards-based methodologies, and program-building experience such as supervision or curriculum development; availability to teach in the summer if needed is a plus. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and includes benefits.
