LEO Lecturer I in Arabic Language
Description
The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, and the Department of Middle East Studies at the University of Michigan, invite applications for a LEO Lecturer I in Arabic Language for the Fall 2025 Term. This appointment is scheduled to begin on August 25, 2025.
Responsibilities include instruction at any assigned level of Arabic classes and active involvement in teamwork and program affairs. Appointment level will be 100%. This is a renewable one-term appointment.
Qualifications
Applicants should have Superior level proficiency in Standard Arabic, English, and at least one variety of spoken Arabic. Experience with teaching Arabic at the post-secondary level is required. Applicants must have a demonstrated understanding of and ability to use a proficiency-based, communicative methodology in language instruction. Minimum of a Master’s degree in foreign language teaching or equivalent field required.
The selection criteria used for this search is based on how the applicant’s education and experience meets the required minimum qualifications for the position. Excellence in teaching and instruction will be the principal criteria used to select the successful candidate.
