LECTURER IN ARABIC LANGUAGE

The Department of Near Eastern Studies at the University of Michigan invites applications for a full-time (100%) lecturer position in Arabic Language, beginning September 1, 2018. This is a benefits-eligible position.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching two sections of First and/or Second Year Arabic.Due to the replacement nature of this appointment, funding for this position will only be available for Fall 2018 and Winter 2019.

Applicants should have Superior level fluency in Standard Arabic and English, and a dialect of Arabic, in addition to experience in teaching Arabic at the post-secondary level. Applicants must have a demonstrated understanding of and ability to use a proficiency-based, communicative methodology in their teaching. Minimum requirement is a graduate degree (MA) in foreign language teaching or equivalent field.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
