The Department of Modern Languages & Literatures at Rollins College invites applications for a one-year (renewable appointment) full-time lecturer position beginning August 2017. Responsibilities include teaching beginning and intermediate-level classes in Arabic; tutoring students of Arabic, including independent studies; and teaching four classes per year for the Middle Eastern and North African Studies program in the candidate's area of expertise. Teaching load is 4-4, with half the courses in Arabic and the remaining courses contributing to the Middle Eastern and North African Studies minor.

Qualifications:

  • Master of Arts in Arabic, linguistics, Middle Eastern Studies or related field; Ph.D. preferred
  • Native or near-native language skills in Arabic with fluency in one or more dialects
  • Training in second-language pedagogy
  • Experience teaching at the U.S. university level and demonstrated ability to develop innovative second-language curricula
