Program in Comparative Literature, Williams College
Position: Postdoctoral Fellowship in Pre-modern/Classical Arabic Literature
The Program in Comparative Literature at Williams College seeks to appoint a two-year Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in pre-modern Arabic literature, beginning in the fall of 2015. Specialization is open to any period of Arabic literature before 1800, and scholars with a comparative or theoretical focus are particularly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will teach one course per semester on pre-modern Arabic literature. Ph.D. in hand or expected by September 2015; new PhDs are especially encouraged to apply.
The Fellow will be included in the activities of the Program in Comparative Literature as a regular faculty member. The Fellow will work closely with faculty mentors, receive feedback on teaching, and be provided with opportunities to present their research.
The fellowship includes a salary of $44,000 plus benefits and funds to support research and travel. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States, or expect to pursue a teaching career in the United States. The position is made possible by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
