The Opportunity
The Institute for the Arabic Language invites applications for a full-time faculty position (open rank) in Arabic, with a focus on teaching Arabic for Native and Non-native Speakers. Strong theoretical and methodological skills are desirable. Successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate-level courses, including courses on Arabic Heritage, Communication Skills in Arabic, Academic Writing, Arabic-English Translation, Media Arabic, and Arabic Teaching Methods, or other courses related to the candidate’s area of specialization. Primary teaching responsibilities will include the teaching of 3/3 introductory, intermediate and upper level Arabic language courses. Research-active faculty may apply for additional course time reassignment.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Arabic language, Arabic Linguistics, Language Acquisition, Arabic Literature, or a related field at the time of appointment, and the capacity to teach and research in an interdisciplinary environment. Evidence of teaching and research excellence is required. The candidate is expected to have native fluency in Modern Standard Arabic and a strong command of English. Candidates with experience in teaching Arabic at university level and the ability to design and develop Arabic language courses are encouraged to apply.
