United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD. Instructor, Arabic Language (12 Month Appointment)

The Languages and Cultures Department of the United States Naval Academy invites applications for a full-time instructor position in Arabic Language, to begin in August of 2012.  Native or near-native proficiency in both Arabic and English are required.  A PhD or ABD in Arabic Language, Literature, Linguistics, Culture or Arabic Studies is strongly desired.   The successful candidate will be expected to teach all levels of Modern Standard Arabic, including Media Arabic and at least one major dialect.  U.S. citizenship preferred due to Department of the Navy security procedures.  The successful applicant will be offered a twelve-month excepted-service appointment with some benefits.  

Candidates should send curriculum vitae and a concise description of teaching experience, philosophy and methodology, and a statement regarding their U.S. (or other) citizenship to primary point of contact burt@usna.edu with carbon copy to acevedo@usna.edu
