Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Arabic literature or language in hand by September 16, 2012; teaching certificate in Arabic (if applicable); native or near-native fluency in both Standard and Spoken Arabic; and English; high-level skills in the grammar and syntax of standard (fus-ha) Arabic; 3 academic years college experience in proficiency-oriented language instruction in U.S. Colleges; demonstrated commitment to research; familiarity with ACTFL guidelines.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Teaching undergraduate courses in language for first- through third-year Standard Arabic, with the possibility of teaching classes in Arabic literature in the future; maintaining an active research and publication agenda; supervising lower-division language instruction; developing program in collaboration with members of the Arabic section; advising students of Arabic; engaging in University services and community outreach.
