Assistant Professor of Arabic - Kenyon College

Kenyon College is seeking applications for a tenure-track position in Arabic at the assistant professor or instructor level, to begin August, 2012. Native or near-native command of Modern Standard Arabic required, knowledge of one or more dialects desirable, and fluency in English. The successful applicant will have a demonstrable record of teaching excellence in Arabic as a second language. Field of specialization open.   A complete application will be comprised of 1) a cover letter discussing the applicant's research and scholarship undertaken, its relevance to the field or discipline, and prior teaching experience; 2) a statement of the applicant's teaching philosophy; 3) a curriculum vitae; 4) letters of reference from three (3) recommenders; and 5) an unofficial transcript.  Ph.D. preferred, in Arabic language and literature, Arabic linguistics, or closely related field; ABDs are welcome to apply    All application materials must be submitted electronically through Kenyon's employment website https://employment.kenyon.edu.
Review of applications will begin October 15, 2011, and will continue until the position has been filled. MESA interviews, Washington, D.C., December, 2011. EOE.
