Language Instructor in Arabic - Wellesley College

Wellesley College, Program in Middle Eastern Studies, invites applications for a Mellon Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Arabic Studies. The two-year post-doctoral fellowship begins in fall 2012 and continues through the academic years of 2012-13 and 2013-14. The fellow will teach two courses in Arabic language per year and contribute to the Program’s cultural activities, while continuing to conduct research in his/her field of scholarship. The post-doctoral fellow will also have a relationship with Wellesley’s Newhouse Center for the Humanities and participate in the yearly programming of that center.

The successful candidate will possess native or near-native fluency in Standard Arabic and hold a Ph.D. (ABD considered) in Arabic language, literature or a related field, with period and field of specialization open. The successful candidate should be prepared to teach two courses or sections per year in Arabic Language, at the elementary, intermediate or advanced levels. 

The Mellon Post-Doctoral Fellowship is open to candidates who have been awarded the Ph.D. in the five-year period preceding the appointment. Salary: $50,000 per annum, with additional funds for travel to conferences, research expenses and moving costs. The Fellow will be assigned a designated faculty mentor for the duration of the appointment.
