Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Arabic Applied Linguistics
The School of International Letters and Cultures (SILC) at Arizona State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Arabic Applied Linguistics. The appointment begins August 16, 2013. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. at the time of application and have native proficiency in Arabic or distinguished/superior level proficiency. Responsibilities will include teaching Arabic language and linguistics courses within SILC; conducting and publishing scholarly research in the field of Arabic applied linguistics/second language acquisition; supervising and training Arabic language lecturers and student teaching assistants; assisting with the coordination of the first and second-year Arabic language curriculum.
Required qualifications include:
- demonstrated expertise in the field of applied linguistics and in second language acquisition with a special focus on Arabic;
- experience in teaching Arabic language and linguistics at the university level;
- ability to integrate new media technologies across the Arabic language curriculum;
- knowledge of techniques and methodologies within the second language acquisition.
Desired qualifications include: 1) experience in supervising lower division language programs.
