Elementary School Arabic Teacher Position

About the Organization
Global Language Project (GLP) is a not-for-profit organization that partners with public elementary schools to create and fund after school language programs. At Global Language Project our goal is to build the foundation for a lifetime of language learning. Our innovative curriculum and approach meet and exceed the criteria required by Common Core Standards and the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Language Standards.

About the Position
Currently, we have the opportunity for a full-time Arabic teacher. Please note that you must be a certified teacher in order to hold this position. You must hold either a K-6 certification, common branch certification, bilingual certification, or a provisional state certification.

The instructor will work with students in grades K-5. Through GLP’s curriculum, students are introduced to language through interactive instruction, cultural activities, music and games. The emphasis is on oral communication and learning about other cultures.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Teaches students Arabic with creative and well integrated lesson plans, in both full group and small group settings
• Communicates with supervisors, parents, students and partner schools
• Tracks students’ progress through continued assessment
• Effectively manages classroom
• Enhances programs' reputation by exploring creative and innovative teaching and learning tools
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
• Experience with foreign language instruction and curriculum development
• Experience working with elementary aged children
• Experience working with students with diverse backgrounds
• Ability to plan, implement and evaluate individual, small group, and whole class instruction
• Excellent classroom management skills
• Success in incorporating hands-on and co-operative learning activities
• K-6 certification, common branch certification, bilingual certification, or a provisional state certification

Salary: $40,000 to $60,000 (based on experience) with benefits.
